The conference will take place in the National Library of Technology (NTK), located centrally in the university campus in Prague 6. NTK is situated between the Czech Technical University and University of Chemistry and Technology in a walking distance (10 minutes) from the station Dejvická of the metro line A.

Flights to Prague arrive at Václav Havel Airport. From the airport you can take bus No. 119 to Nádraží Veleslavín metro station. It is the final stop of the bus No. 119 and the bus takes 15-17 minutes. Then take metro in the direction to Depo Hostivař and go 2 stops (5 minutes) to the station Dejvická. Tickets can be purchased at the Public transport information desk at the airport or from the machine at the bus stop (which takes Czech Crown coins).

Prague can be reached by direct trains from Hamburg, Berlin, Dresden, Nürnberg, Warsaw, Budapest, Vienna, Bratislava and many other cities. You can get to the conference venue from the main railway station by metro line C to Muzeum (direction Háje), where you change to line A to the station Dejvická (direction Nemocnice Motol).

You can reach the conference venue from the city centre by metro to the station Dejvická (line A) or by several tram lines. A travel from the centre to the venue takes 20-30 minutes.

The official currency of the Czech Republic is the Czech Crown (Česká koruna, CZK). Exchange of foreign currency is available in ATM machines and exchange offices. International credit cards are accepted as payment in most hotels, restaurants and shops. Payment in cash in EUR is also possible in many restaurants and shops, please ask for details on-site. The Czech Republic uses a 230 V 50 Hz system, sockets are European standard and plugs are three-prong grounded.

Balling hall

The conference will take place in Balling hall, named by Karel Joseph Napoleon Balling (1805-1868). Balling was professor of chemistry and rector of Prague polytechnics. His research was focused on sugar refinery, fermentation processes and analytical chemistry. In 1839 he invented a saccharometer. He promoted a scientific control of food technologies. He determined the relationship between the amount of sugars in malt and produced ethanol, CO₂ and biomass in a brewing process. Balling scale is still used in many countries to describe strength of beer.
